The story has a concrete, time-series number that shows progress at two checkpoints (12 months and 3 years), which makes the improvement credible rather than a one-time snapshot. The before-state is specific: five or six disparate systems monitored with a rotating-chair method and no unified escalation schedule. The mechanism is clear enough to follow: consolidate alert routing into a single on-call tool, standardize escalation schedules across departments, and add mobile access so staff can act from anywhere.
The two-checkpoint metric reveal: quoting results at 12 months and again at 3 years shows sustained improvement and makes the ROI story far harder to dismiss than a single before/after number.
